New system provides greater efficiency and enhanced customer service

Munich, February 15th, 2008. msg systems ag worked in close cooperation with the Versicherungskammer Bayern (VKB), one of the largest primary insurance companies in Germany, to realize one of the most extensive IT projects in the European insurance industry. The project included the individual expansion of the P&C policy management for private and individual business for the public sector insurance company, as well as the migration of the entire in-force business of the P&C portfolio of VKB’s subsidiary Feuersozietät Berlin. A total of 120 project members were involved in the realization of the project, which was done in a record time of 12 months. The new policy management system provides more efficient processes and enables faster, more flexible product developments.

Total Support by msg systems
msg systems ag has its headquarters in Ismaning near Munich and is one of the 10 largest IT consulting and system integration companies in Germany. In 2006, its IT experts developed a policy management system "BeKo Kraft" for the automotive line of business at the Versicherungskammer Bayern, which enabled quick and flexible product implementations. The solution is based on msg.PM, a product management system that greatly increases the speed with which insurance products are defined and continuously developed.
msg.PM is now the basis for the new P&C policy management system at the Versicherungskammer Bayern and at the Feuersozietät Berlin. As an external partner, msg systems ag has approximately 110 employees involved in the different phases of this extensive project – from project management and design to implementation, testing and go-live, not to mention employee training.  During the first expansion phase msg systems implemented the central policy management system with interface connections for all P&C lines of business and transferred the products and processes of the Feuersozietät Berlin to the new platform, all within a single year. This created a basis for further migrations. The in-force business of the VKB was then transferred.

Greater Synergy – Greater Competitive Advantages

A few of the Versicherungskammer Bayern’s subsidiaries are already using the new solution to access a common system, including the Feuersozietät Berlin. This creates synergy and greatly enhances efficiency through high-performance, automated processes. Since msg.PM not only enables fast product development, but also the definition of rather complex product structures, VKB is now in a position to quickly introduce innovative products that are tailored to their customers needs to the market. Thus, they can guarantee their decisive competitive advantages. Moreover, their customers also profit from the system's user-friendliness.
