The IT consulting and system integration company experienced above-average growth in its industry in 2008 and is equipped for future challenges

Munich, March 2, 2009. The msg systems group (msg group for short) is among the top 10 IT consulting and system integration companies in Germany and has increased its revenue in 2008 from 254 million Euro to 309 million Euro, thus achieving a very positive profit margin. The msg group, headquartered in Ismaning, saw above-average employee growth in the industry once again. “These results form an excellent basis for continued self-financed growth and makes us well positioned for the current and future challenges related to the financial crisis" explained Hans Zehetmaier, CEO of msg systems ag.

Influential Factors
The growth in 2008 was the result of three main factors: acquisition and realization of strategic major projects, use of market opportunities and a focus on core topics. These aspects enabled msg systems to realize one of the largest IT projects in the insurance industry for the Versicherungskammer Bayern, construct a new output management system for another well-known insurance company and establish a new credit and risk system for one of the leading financial institutes.
Their strong position as a leading IT service provider for insurance companies was not merely the result of the major projects the msg group realized over the past year: the company took advantage of opportunities offered by the market and now holds a majority share in the COR AG, a renowned software and consulting company for insurance companies. The msg group also established itself in the international market as a competent consulting and IT service provider for the insurance industry. The foundation of a new subsidiary, msg global solutions, paved the way for increased global growth.

Solutions to Meet the Market Challenges
Another success factor turned out to be the internal restructuring and focus on the topics of business intelligence, system services and test and quality management, which were well received on the market. The company will continue its concentration on core competences and market-dominating topics again in this year. “In light of the challenges produced by the financial crisis topics such as migration, process enhancement, risk management, sales and customer loyalty systems will become even more important” explained Hans Zehetmaier. “We have the competence to help companies enhance their processes, to master their risks and to save costs. That has been our business for almost 30 years.”

Ambitious Growth Goals in 2009 As Well
The msg group plans to continue its growth rate, that has been so successful in the past, in 2009 as well. “We are well positioned” emphasized Hans Zehetmaier. “Which is why, in spite of the crisis, we are aiming for an increase in revenue well above the industry average which, according to the industry association BITKOM should be around 1.5 percent.”
To achieve their growth goals, the msg group will focus on the expansion of their industry competence in the future-oriented areas of energy and government in addition to their focus on market-relevant topics and the expansion of international business. Moreover, the msg group will maintain its sourcing strategy and continue to promote the development of strategic involvements.
